External Training - Facility Fee and Hire
Are you a Sailing Class, Association or Club looking for a training venue?
Come and train with us at the Welsh National Sailing Academy. With world-class sailing waters and on-shore facilities to match we have the perfect venue for your training week/weekend.
Please Note:
If you wish to arrive early and take advantage of the training facilities in the Academy, you must pay the Plas heli Pre/Post Event Facility Fee.
The Facility fee for 2023 has been set at £10.50 per person per day. All users of the facility must purchase a day tally to use any of the Academy facilities including but not limited to the folowing; dinghy storage, use of main hall, showers, launching facilities and car parking. This does not include the use of a class room, Rib or VHF. These are available separately.
We have addd the hire of training marks to this on-line form (£30 per day) for a set of three training marks with warps, anchor and cocking weight. Any loss or damage to be replaced by the Organisers.

Welsh National Sailing Academy can provide other resources that are not included on this form. Should you wish to arrange VHF hire, committee boats, marks, crane in/out services, projectors, RIB drivers, boat storage etc. please contact us to discuss costs and availability.

Plas Heli Facilities
The Welsh National Sailing Academy and Event Centre has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government and Gwynedd Council and comprises:
- The Academy building (details below)
- Camping Areas with hook-ups
- Camping Area for Tents
- Pontoon Berths for all types of boats
- The events, training and visitor pontoons
- Large secure compound or space for outdoor events
- Easy access to the safe beach launching area
- The old Club building Letting/Teaching rooms
- Car parking areas
- The Outdoor Group equipment hub and dinghy storage compound
- Commercial Scale Washing Machine
The Centre is well equipped with marquees and all the kit required to run major international sailing championships which include our fleet of safety and mark laying RIBs, committee boats and all of the marks sufficient for multiple racecourses.
The award-winning building includes the following:

The first floor is accessed by stairs, lift and external stairs and grassy ramps which also act as seating areas for external events. 
There is a further large balcony on the second floor which is available for outdoor private functions.

The impressive Academy site has dedicated parking areas, secure events compounds with direct access to the building, pontoons and the safe beach launching area.
The balconies offer an elevated vantage point to watch the launching of dinghy classes and perfect for an outdoor barbeque.

Trailer Park Area for Large Events
During our largest events all road trailers will be stored at the end of the peninsula as shown above:
- Follow the orange route, from the entrance to our main compound next to the RNLI station.
- then - through the gate (you will need the key from the event office).
- and then park in the area shown by the red arrow.

Dinghy Compound
Plas Heli is committed to develop and promote the growth of dinghy sailing in Pwllheli.
The Dinghy Compound, which is located to the south of the Main Events Compound, is administered by CHPSC

Please Note:
You will be asked to certify that your vessel is seaworthy and carries third party insurance.
The payment year is from 1st January to 31st December - no discounts given for part of year
This compound is for beach craft, less than 18 feet in length and can be launched from a trolley on the beach.
All vessels must be registered with CHPSC and confirmation of payment of the annual fee.
A marker or sticker will be issued and we will provide a key or compound entry instructions.
A separate form must be used for each vessel. Vessels which are larger than 18 feet should be registered with Gwynedd Council.
Any unregistered vessels in the compound will be removed at the owners expense.

Room and Equipment Hire Charges
Plas Heli has a number of Rooms that are available to hire with or withour equipment and services.
These are let by the hour but are subject to a minimum charge. All charges are inclusive of VAT.
Booking is on-line here and you can also add any equipment and catering requirements within the form.
Room 1 - The Richard Tudor Room
The Richard Tudor Room - Room 1
Room 1 is the closest to the Entrance Hallway at Plas Heli and is also known as the "Richard Tudor's Room". This is suitable for a Board Room type meeting.
The room is suitable for groups up to a maximum of 20 persons in a flexible layout.
£18 per hour subject to a minimum charge of £38.
Morning Only 9am to 12noon = £56
Afternoon Only 13.00hrs to 17.00hrs £76
All day 9am to 5pm = £120 and £18 per hour thereafter.

Room 2
Room 2
This is the next room along from the Commmodores's room and is suitable for a class room style meeting.
The room opens out into the Main Hall and also benefits from a breakout door to the front of the building.
£16 per hour subject to a minimum charge of £34.
Morning Only 9am to 12noon = £50
Afternoon Only 13.00hrs to 17.00hrs £66
All day 9am to 5pm = £105 and £16 per hour thereafter
Room 3
Room 3
This is the last of the three rooms on the ground floor and is accessed from Room 2 or from the main compound or by a separate door to the front. Again this room is suitable for a classroom layout.
£14 per hour subject to a minimum charge of £30.
Morning Only 9am to 12noon = £44
Afternoon Only 13.00hrs to 17.00hrs £58
All day 9am to 5pm = £95 and £14 per hour thereafter
This room was refurmished in Decemnmber 2025
Main Hall
The Main Hall in the centre of the building offers a flexible space with a number of different uses.
Price on application .
Restaurant as a Conference Hall
For larger groups and again offers theater style layout for up to 60 people. Price on application with the caterers.
