Friends of Plas Heli
We are delighted to inform you that Plas Heli Cyf has been successful with a Big Lottery grant which is a three-year project called "Friends of Plas Heli". We would like to extend to you the opportunity to be part of this exciting new project and share with you the opportunities Plas Heli, in conjunction with Pwllheli Sailing Club, can offer you through the exiting “Friends of Plas Heli” project.
Plas Heli Cyf in association with Pwllheli Sailing Club would like to offer you the opportunity to come and enjoy a taster session with a further option to participate in regular sailing activities. The programme can be tailored to suit your needs. You can can book a taster sailing day from any one of the attached dates.
You will need a towel, a spare set of shoes, change of clothes and a bather to wear under your wetsuit. We will provide all the other equipment. The cost of the taster day is £10.00 per head and payment can be made via cheque/cash to Plas Heli Cyf. There is also a strict ratio where there must be at least 1 instructor for every 6 sailing. We will therefore be offering a maximum of 12 per taster session.
The RYA programme has been developed to offer sailing to young people as part of an extracurricular activity to young people in general. Plas Heli/Pwllheli Sailing Club is a Recognised “RYA” Training Centre which has been set up and is ready to take out groups of young people sailing. All equipment, safety equipment and clothing are provided, so you don’t have to spend any money on kit or equipment.
If you do choose to take part in any session, you will be taught according to the National Youth Sailing Scheme, which provides a clear achievement route through which individual performance can be evaluated and improved upon for young people to follow. There is also support and information available for those young people who may wish to take up the sport of sailing in their own time.
This project will provide an affordable opportunity for local people to participate and also volunteer in order to build skills, experience and employability for the future. We will encourage individuals to join local outdoor clubs where there is a real opportunity to gain experience, leading to qualifications and greater options in the future.
Please contact David Hughes if you wish to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity, bearing in mind that this will be offered on a first come first serve basis.
Please note that all dates and activities may be subject to change and are weather dependent. This will be on a first come first serve basis.
